Birth Options was founded by well-known Cape Town midwives Sr Kate Christie and Sr Glynnis Garrod. Kate trained at UCT and worked at Groote Schuur in the labour ward before spending time working as a midwife in London. Glynnis received a Diploma in Nursing Science, Community Health, Psychiatric Nursing and Midwifery from Carinus College in 1990, and worked at the Groote Schuur Hospital in the labour ward and theatre until the beginning of 1999, gaining a Chief Professional Nurses post.
Birth Options has an association with a team of Midwives, Susan Lees and Ciska van Straten, who jointly form Birth Nature's Way. They run their practice from the same rooms in Plumstead.

My friend is about 13 weeks pregnant now, but she had an abortion a long time ago, about 6 years back. She is afraid now that this baby won't be normal. Could that happen?
Answer
The previous abortion will not cause this baby to be abnormal in any way.
